Understandably, you want to buy American brands and arrows made in the United States. The quality of American arrows are second to none. Some arrow manufacturers make some of their arrows in the United States, but they might outsource a portion. Stay tuned because we will look at arrows made in the USA.
What arrows are made in the USA? The arrow brands that make arrows in the USA include Easton Archery, Northwest Archery, Stinger Barrels, Arrow Dynamics (now defunct) and Beman. If you want a company dedicated to arrows made in the USA, many patriotic archers only shoot Easton.
In the upcoming topic, I’m going to cover information about the companies to help you decide which one you should go with. We will also look at why making carbon arrows in the United States is so difficult.
Beware of Brands That Don’t Make Arrows Exclusively in the USA
You have some companies that might make the shafts in Mexico but bring them over to the United States to have the rest of the arrow manufactured. No one should see that as made in the USA. When we say, “Made in the USA,” we want the companies that exclusively make arrows from the USA or close to it.
Easton, for example, makes 96 percent of its arrows in the United States, but you do have the other four percent that comes from China. To remedy that problem, I just don’t buy the models made in China.
Why Do Some Companies Make Carbon Fiber Arrows Elsewhere?
Unfortunately, carbon fiber doesn’t come as readily available in the United States as in other parts of the world. Looking past its advantages as a material for arrows, the high manufacturing costs of carbon fiber have made it more efficient to produce elsewhere.
Carbon fiber, in itself, isn’t the most eco-friendly substance, and you get a lot of waste, which adds to the cost. The United States also implements more safety standards than other parts of the world, making it more costly to produce.
I highlight this because when you buy carbon arrows, I’m telling you to especially exercise caution. Not all the companies that produce arrows in the United States will produce carbon arrows in the USA.
Arrow Dynamics was one company that even produced its carbon arrows in the United States. The issue came in because they don’t have a big enough market to continue doing this profitably, and you have a wide segment of the market that only wants a cheap arrow. They don’t think of helping the American companies.
Why I Support Easton Archery
If I were to tell you one to go with, I’d tell you to support Easton Archery. This company doesn’t make all its arrows in the United States, but I like this company because it pays millions of dollars every year promoting archery in the United States. They have donated tens of millions of dollars to support the sport. You don’t get that with many of the other companies.
While Easton Archery doesn’t do everything for arrow manufacturing in the United States, they have contributed a lot to support the sport here. Even now, they only make certain arrow models outside the USA, and you can acquaint yourself with them.
Doug Easton started Easton Archery in 1922. To this day, they manufacture arrows in Salt Lake City, Utah. The company helped to revolutionize the sport by introducing its straight aluminum arrows in the 1940s. More bowhunters use Easton in the USA than all the other arrows combined.
Northwest Archery
Family owned and operated since 1949, Northwest Archery specializes in its wood arrows. Suzanne St.Charles spines, assembles and embellishes all the arrows, and you can choose whatever feather color combination you’d like. Northwest Archery has a rich history, and all five of Margaret St. Charles’s children have worked at Northwest Archery.
In particular, this company manufactures arrows for traditional archery, and if you want to support a company that does all its work in the USA, check them out here. I’d especially recommend them for someone interested in traditional archery and who wants to support archery companies from the United States. Everything here is exclusively made in the USA.
I link to this company especially because they have a long history, and they’re a smaller business than some of the others. If you want to support a company with an actual face, support Northwest Archery. They make their arrows in Puyallup, Washington, which sits to the southeast of Tacoma.
Stinger Barrels
I love Stinger Barrels because they make everything in the USA. The company first opened its doors over two decades ago, and you will find the beating heart of this company in Topeka, Kansas. Whether we’re talking about carbon arrows or anything else related to archery with this company, everything gets made in the USA.
All Stinger Barrels arrows come with a one-year warranty. The things that you get with their arrows include two UV protected topcoats and a no-glare finish.
Arrow Dynamics (Defunct)
In business for over 25 years in terms of making arrows, Arrow Dynamics had some clout behind it like many of the other American companies that make their arrows in the USA. Like Stinger Barrels, Arrow Dynamics manufactured their arrows in Topeka, Kansas.
Arrow Dynamics existed for even longer, and they began in 1946. Unfortunately, the company filed for bankruptcy on December 3, 2001. While you can’t buy them anymore, I list this company to show you a proud American company that made arrows exclusively in the USA. Maybe you have even seen some of its arrows before.
Beman
Considered one of the prominent arrow manufacturers, Beman, in fact, is owned by Easton. Because of that, Beman arrows get manufactured in Salt Lake City, like the arrows of Easton. Beman stands out as a great arrow manufacturer, especially for its carbon arrows. Its carbon arrows have a reputation for strength, speed and value.
Important to note: As of 2020, Beman arrows were absorbed into the Easton brand. That means that you will no longer see them offered as Beman. If you buy an older arrow, however, you may still find Beman arrows from before, or you can buy them under the Easton label.
Beman arrows were especially popular for big game hunting.
Hopefully, you have found some gems from this list of American companies that proudly make their arrows in the USA. It’s natural to want to support companies that do their business in the USA because you support the strength of the American nation.
I would recommend any one of these companies to someone because all of them have a proven track record of excellence in one way or another. When you buy China, the products are known as cheap for a reason. American-made products, on the other hand, were built to last, and even people from other countries see American-made as the superior choice for quality. Don’t bet against America.
